While seven teams continued testing at Monza, Ferrari and McLaren began a three day test at Paul Ricard, where they used the 3.24 mile 1E-SC Short configuration.

Ferrari's schedule consisted of tyre testing for Felipe Massa and Luca Badoer. The Brazilian also worked on development of aerodynamic solutions for the forthcoming north American races, while the Italian concentrated on testing electronics and new mechanical components.

Kimi Raikkonen and Gary Paffett were in action for McLaren, whose focus was on preparations for the Canadian Grand Prix, which included aerodynamic development and set-up work. The Woking team also carried out tyre selection programme with Michelin for Indianapolis.

Massa's best lap was over 1.6s quicker than his nearest rival (Badoer), while Raikkonen, who completed just 48 laps, was over 2s off the pace.
