The Race of Champions has suffered another blow, with the news that Scott Speed is out of this weekend's event following his accident during testing at Jerez on Thursday.
Speed himself was a late replacement for NASCAR Champion Jimmie Johnson, who was forced to withdraw from the even following an accident in a golf cart.
Earlier this week, Jenson Button revealed that he too was withdrawing from the event as he continues to recover from an injury incurred during a kart event that formed part of his winter training programme.
It's understood that organizers are hoping that 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup Champion Kurt Busch will replace Speed, providing he hasn't been involved in any off track mishaps.
