Only one goal for Germany

Willi Weber sends his A1 Team Germany to the seventh round of the A1GP World Cup of Motorsport season in South Africa with an ambitious goal. Nominated driver Michael Ammermuller (right) should attack for the team of the defending champions a rather meagre points haul last time out. With two victories this season the German squad numbers among the best of the 22 national teams – only New Zealand with three wins has more.

"Fully motivated as always, but even more focussed than recently and the team should find its old form again," says Willi Weber. "Many small problems, including two problematical pit stops cost us valuable points in Australia. Michael Ammermuller and the David Sears Motorsport race team have already shown that they can win this season. Now it's all about reducing the 19 point gap to the championship leaders as quickly as possible."

While A1 Team Germany won both races on the shores of the Indian Ocean with Nico Hulkenberg last year, the street circuit is new territory for Michael Ammermuller. "I always look forward to the challenge of new circuits and have shown that I can adapt quickly," says the race driver from Pocking, who celebrated his 22nd birthday ten days before the race in Durban. "I've been told that this event traditionally has a great atmosphere. However, the race will certainly be incredibly tough since you need to go to limit but not over on tight street circuits."
