Sepang: Official Preview

NEWS STORY

The 2008 GP2 Asia Series is in Malaysia this weekend for the third Round of the Championship. The twenty-six drivers will fight for the win in front of the Formula One paddock at the Sepang International Circuit this Saturday and Sunday.

Two rounds have gone and Romain Grosjean is leading the drivers' championship. After an impressive GP2 debut which saw him snatch a pole position and two wins, the ART Grand Prix man had a more challenging weekend in Indonesia last month, but he scored enough points to keep at a safe distance his closest rival, Bruno Senna. The Brazilian driver from iSport International is far from calling it quits though: at the wheel of the 2007 GP2 Champion car, Bruno wants to score his first victory this weekend and shine in front of the entire F1 circus. In third place stands Adrian Valles: ever since the launch of the GP2 Asia Series, the Spaniard from Fisichella Motor Sport International has been quick and competitive. He will most definitely be in the mix for the fight for the win. Fauzy, Buemi and Petrov will not give the leading men a rest: they are just a few points away from the Top 3. As always, suspense is a key word in the GP2 Title fight!

Local star and currently fourth driver in the championship Fairuz Fauzy said: "In my opinion, this is by far the most demanding track of the GP2 Asia championship: between the humidity level, the high temperatures, and the fifteen corners, we drivers will have to be physically prepared for this challenge! Once again, there is a little bit of uncertainty regarding the weather conditions… We might get a few surprises like we had in Indonesia last month. I can't wait to be on Friday though! This is my home race and I'm glad to be introducing GP2 to the Malaysian crowd."
