A1 Team New Zealand started its final push for the 2007/08 championship strongly this morning, with rookie Chris van der Drift topping the timesheets at Brands Hatch.
Van der Drift, who has only taken part in one rookie session prior to this weekend, steered Black Beauty round Brands Hatch in a strong time on 1m 16.102s.
Jonny Reid will take over this afternoon, as he looks to overhaul New Zealand’s 29-point deficit to championship leader Switzerland in this weekend’s season finale.
Portugal’s Filipe Albuquerque was second quickest, just one thousandth of a second slower.
The Czech Republic’s Filip Salaquarda was third, ahead of Switzerland, with Alexandre Imperatori behind the wheel.
