The Mexican driver capitalized on a terrible start by pole-sitter Nigel Melker and subsequently led the entire race. A string of fastest laps and a flawless drive ensured Gutierrez finished the 15 lap race a huge 10.5 seconds ahead of second place man Manor Racing's James Jakes.

Addax Team's Felipe Guimaraes was another driver hot off the startline and a solid drive saw the Brazilian take third. Meanwhile Alexander Rossi continued his impressive race form moving up four spots into fifth by the end of lap one, eventually making up one more place to finish fourth behind the
Brazilian.

Dean Smith was another driver to struggle at the start, and by the end of lap one he was back down in sixth spot, but a battling Rossi and Daniel Morad ahead allowed the Carlin driver to catch the pair and begin what was to become a race long battle with Status GP's Morad. The Englishman and the Canadian spent the duration of the race locked in battle and were constantly swapping places up until the chequered flag. It was Morad who came out on top after Smith's race was cut short following a fuel pressure problem.

Jenzer Motorsport's Nico Muller, MW Arden's Miki Monras and Manor Racing's Rio Haryanto completed the top eight, the latter doing an impressive job of working his way up into eighth spot to claim the last point and reversed pole for tomorrow after starting from sixteenth today.

Things went from bad to worse for Nigel Melker; the Dutchman was handed a drive through penalty starting out of the box. The RSC Mucke driver eventually finished a lowly 23rd .

Gutierrez moves to the top of the drivers standing with 21 points ahead of teammate Alexander Rossi on 13 points.
