Christian Klien is set to drive for Peugeot Sport in this years Le Mans 24 Hours, the 25 year old Austrian driver joining an all star line-up as part of a three car assault in the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP. The announcement was made today by Peugeot Sport and comes three days after Christian tested the car at the Paul Ricard Circuit in the South of France. W

ith Peugeot Sport targeting victory at La Sarthe, Christian is one of a ten strong driver line-up although the individual crews for each of the cars will not be announced until May. The 76th Le Mans 24 Hours is set to take place over the weekend of June 15th – 16th 2008 and Christian will take part in private testing over the coming months prior to taking part in the official Le Mans 24 Hours test on May 1st.

Following the recent announcement that Christian has joined BMW Sauber F1 as Test and Reserve driver for the FIA Formula One World Championship the addition of the Le Mans programme with Peugeot Sport means that 2008 is set to be his busiest season to date.

"I'm very happy to be part of the Peugeot Sport team for the Le Mans 24 Hours, and having driven the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP at Paul Ricard this week I can see we have a very strong package and look forward to helping the team to achieve its goals" said Christian.

"This is my first experience of driving a sports prototype and to have the chance to be in a really competitive car at the most famous sports car race in the world is a wonderful opportunity. Driving the car this week was a very different experience to what I'm used to in F1 but it was no less exciting and I can see this is a great challenge and one I'm looking forward to.
