Turkey Preview - Ocean Racing Technology

NEWS STORY
27/05/2010

Ocean Racing Technology is migrating to Turkey this weekend to take up the challenge of the 5th and 6th races of the 2010 GP2 Main Series. The Portuguese team is determined to revisit the performances from the beginning of the championship that saw them up among the fastest on the grid and taking a victory in Spain. Unfortunately the victorious scenes from Barcelona could not be repeated in Monaco because of various racing incidents but Tiago Monteiro and Jose Guedes are counting on the talents of Fabio Leimer and Max Chilton to shine on the Istanbul Park Circuit.

With a victory to his credit, the Swiss rookie is confident of a strong weekend in Turkey... "The aim has to be to keep playing the first roles and not the fiddlers," says Fabio Leimer. "The circuit is very interesting and I am confident of securing a good result on this kind of track. Our success in Barcelona has given us motivation. I know we have to work hard in order to be among the best and I want to keep gaining more and more experience in the car. But our responsibility is higher than that because the championship is even more competitive. First things first: we have to approach qualifying in the best way possible and get a good position on the grid."

Max Chilton is said also confident for the upcoming races and also stressed the importance of qualifying, which penalized him at the start of the season. "Qualifying is decisive and I want to give my best to have a good session and be in a good position on the grid. It is the ideal scenario because then you are in a good position to secure points and you are in the first 3 or 4 rows of the starting grid for the second leg," Max Chilton says, "I liked this track a lot when I raced it on the simulator and I think our set-up should match the circuit and that will allow us to be competitive and back up with the front runners."

The sky should not be very cloudy over Istanbul and the maximum temperatures should be around 30°C, something that could be an additional challenge for management and wear of their Bridgestone tyres.
