"We'll know in about 90 minutes whether there is merit in just assigning a random grid order every race, perhaps weighted based on quali times (think the NBA/NHL draft lottery)."

"Not a bad grid to be fair. Second is George’s to loose behind max."

"While it is good to see some different cars in the top 10 this starting grid is completely artificial (as opposed to one that is a result of weather) and something else needs to be done regarding how to apply engine penalties.

Either the FIA starts docking constructor points or allows more components per season (they will be able to work out the latter by getting an average of the units used across all teams for two seasons) so that quali actually means the faster cars start near the front.

This race is affected in two ways in that the Ferrari fans will miss out on a potential one-two finish and everyone will miss out on the top two drivers having a good fight up front."
