Alpine has announced that Jack Doohan will race in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in place of Esteban Ocon.

The change allows the Frenchman to be released to Haas to drive in the post-season test in Abu Dhabi.

Doohan, who has already been announced as an official driver for the 2025 season alongside Pierre Gasly, will race with the #61 as his registered number and will also participate in the end-of-season test for the team at the Yas Marina Circuit.

The team took the opportunity to thank Ocon for his time at the team stating he will remain part of its history achieving the first win for Alpine in Formula 1.

However, it stopped short of issuing an official farwell quote for the Frenchman who has been with the Enstone squad since 2020.

Rumours are afoot that, due to Colapinto's performance, he could end up at Alpine—his presence seems to have reignited the Argentine market. And with Liberty's previous form when it comes to brokering TV deals in new territories, it would suggest that Doohan may only get the one chance to impress.""

"Perhaps, Hamilton could be put out of his misery and sit of the last race. I suspect his issues are that the car has been developed to suit Russell's driving strengths because he'll be driving with Mercedes next year!"

"I am fervently hoping young Doohan has a successful entre in Abu Dhabi. He's a very fast and very talented driver but that needs to be tempered by his lack of driving for such an extended period. My worry is the lack of real face to face competition. His intro needs to be seen with this caveat in mind. Despite this he's done great job to get this far and it would be terrific if he can get back to his best F2 racing form. best of luck Jack."
