Ford boss lauds Verstappen

NEWS STORY
13/09/2025

Ahead of its return to F1, Ford CEO, Jim Farley sings Max Verstappen's praises.

Of course, with the Blue Oval and Red Bull Powertrains stepping into the unknown we will have to wait and see if the four-time world champion will be returning the compliment this time next year.

In the meantime, acknowledging the turmoil Red Bull has faced over the last couple of seasons, Farley paid tribute to the Dutchman for his calming effect on the Austrian team.

"I think this is one of the most important pillars of foundation for the PU success," he said. "Talking to him, we at Ford really have grown our respect for Max watching him this year.

"The way he has provided stability without drama in an environment where we're all just trying to do our jobs," he explained. "I can really see that in his eyes today versus last year.

"It's one of the great things about Laurent and his team," he added. "They all have this deep commitment to each other."

Though not quite seeing Verstappen as a calming influence, certainly from the outside, there is no doubting the Dutchman's skill and talent, and along with the appointment of the low-key - certainly compared to the previous boss - Laurant Mekies, Farley is confident for what lies ahead.

"I think it's great. I can feel it here," he said. "I came here (to Monza) because I'm a big believer as a leader to understand things with your eyes and your ears. And I can clearly see the impact Laurent has had on the stability of the team.

"He's a technical person, which is exactly right for this change in 2026," he added. "He's absolutely the right leader. We are completely behind him, and I can really feel it here with the team."
