The Sports Authority of Thailand has released details of the proposed track for the Bangkok Grand Prix, which it is hoped will form part of the 2028 world championship.

According to Racing News Thailand, the race will be run on a 5.732 km (3.562 mile) street circuit featuring 18 corners in the Chatuchak district west of the city centre.

The clockwise circuit, which will have the capacity for more than 108,000 spectators and takes in a number of key urban areas, including the Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal Station, the city's primary long distance bus and coach station, Morchit Bus Terminal, Thailand's biggest and most famous tourist market, Chautchak Weekend Market, and PTT's industrial complex as well as overlapping three parks.

The longest straight is 1.2 km (0.75 miles) and ends with a 320-degree right-hander, while the start-finish straight kinks before heading into the 290-degree right-hand first corner.

Similar to Monaco and Las Vegas, the infield pit garages will be permanent, multi-purpose structures, thus allowing them to be used all year.

The government is seeking a 5-year contract from 2028, and in the meantime has issued a questionnaire inviting fans, local businesses and residents to share their thoughts on the project.
